Public call for a practical laboratory on blockchain applications with different contributors of the NEO Smart Economy Community, such as NeoResearch and SimpliPlay, as well as the ITS Mudamos platform. The event is one of the pionners meeting of the NEO Smart Economy Community in Brazil. After the talks, we will move on to the practical “hands-on” moment of the day, which is a workshop on programming for smart contracts.

  • NEO

Nonprofit community blockchain project founded by DA Hongfei and Erik Zhang with the main team located in China. NEO uses blockchain technology and digital identity for digital assets to automate management using smart contracts. The purpose is to promote a “smart economy” with a distributed network. NEO was founded in 2014 and became open source in real time on GitHub in June 2015.

One of NEO’s development groups is NeoResearch. In particular, this group seeks to develop state-of-the-art technology for the NEO ecosystem. The team recently launched the NeoCompiler Eco v1.0, web and android. Such a multi-language system enables the development and testing of smart contracts. The NeoResearch community has two of its chairs occupied by Vitor Coelho and Igor Coelho, both Brazilian researchers. The team currently has researchers and contributors from more than five Brazilian Universities. Among several research lines in progress, the group seeks to apply scientific knowledge on debugging, optimization and hypercomputing in order to provide academic support for blockchain NEO technology. Vitor and Igor will be responsible for organizing the workshop on smart contract programming.

  • SimpliPay 

Digital platform for application of economic dynamics based on blockchain. The digital solution for management and payments that aims to simplify the realization and registration of transactions between users, eliminating costs with fees and monthly payments.  The team won the 1st spot in the Hackaton of the NEO Amsterdam event in the Netherlands. The project vision is to consolidate a fully digital marketplace, integrating producer, retailer and consumer. The platform was developed focusing on the needs of small and medium businesses, dispensing with financial intermediaries and betting on a more intelligent, dynamic and secure economic ecosystem.


The SimpliPay team has crossed 3 key seats in the process of currency scanning: technology, economics and design.They are a group founded by 9 complementary skills professionals – all with experience of over 5 years in successful homeownership committed to the idea of ​​a more transparent, fair and intelligent economy.

  • ITS Rio

Independent, non-profit research institute. Its team has more than ten years of expertise in the capabilities to: (i) identify opportunities and challenges for emerging technologies and their ramifications by conducting research on the range of related legal issues; (ii) analyze issues from multiple perspectives (legal, economic, social, cultural), highlighting critical aspects, particularly linked to fundamental rights and capable of widening social inequalities; (iii) make the issues involved in technologies – their promises and threats – clearly understood by policy makers, experts, activists and the general public at national, regional and international levels; (iv) mobilize progressive forces to promote opportunities or oppose threats, and design collaborations among public interest related to the public good; and (v) provide independent expertise and perspectives in partnership with universities, civil society actors, the private sector, and government agencies.

The Institute for Technology and Society of Rio de Janeiro is a multi-institutional hub, converging when it comes to its expert’s activities that may, given its distinct formation and academic connections, reflect on information technology, communications, and their impacts on society. Among one of the initiatives, the app Mudamos is a great of example of blockchain-based platform that enables grassroot bills of law. The technology assures the genuine identity, while the mechanism promotes civic engagement.
