The Institute for Technology and Society of Rio de Janeiro (ITS Rio) and the Institute of Reference in Internet and Society of Belo Horizonte (IRIS BH) are now receiving applications to a new research group on Blockchain Technology and Public Interest.

The group will develop research over the course of 12 meetings during 12 months in 2017 and 2018, conducted entirely online in real time (i.e: videoconference), with the exception of the group’s last meeting, to be held at ITS in Rio de Janeiro. The meetings will feature lectures and panels from some of the world’s leading specialists on the topic.

The group has a total of 25 vacancies, 7 of which will be reserved for institutions previously indicated and 18 will be open to the public. This call aims to select institutions and people based on the impact they may have on the debate involving blockchain technology and public interest, as well as the potential to implement solutions in order to transform the fields in which they operate. The candidates need to prove their abilities to articulate solutions and to collaborate in the creation of a public guide of best practices on the topic.
