On Monday (07/23), 6:30 p.m., at Salão Pedro Calmon (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, FCC/UFRJ – Praia Vermelha Campus), we received Yuk Hui (Bauhaus Universität, Germany) in his first trip to South America to present the Após o orgânico (After the organic) conference.

One of the leading philosophers and theorists of this age, Hui will discuss the political conditions in a cybernetic future, and why he is against what he calls “political naturalism” – the theme of his next book.

The conference will be mediated by professor Victa de Carvalho, member of the postgraduate program in Communication and Culture at UFRJ (PPGCOM/UFRJ); and Ronaldo Lemos, director of the Institute for Technology & Society of Rio (ITS Rio).

Yuk Hui is Known for work such as The Question Concerning Technology in China – An Essay in Cosmotechnics (2016), On the Existence of Digital Objects (2016), and Recursivity and Contingency (2019). He has dedicated his research and reflection on ontological, aesthetic, cultural, and political issues that revolve around technology and its relations in a contemporary world.

In Brazil, n-1 edições has published his text Da consciência infeliz dos neorreacionários (On the Unhappy Consciousness of Neoreactionaries) in its Caixa Pandemia de cordéis text compendium.
