On August 7, applications opened for the AI Climate Academy Pilot Workshop, an initiative aimed at bringing together decision-makers from diverse sectors for an intensive immersion on the responsible use of artificial intelligence to address climate change.

The workshop will take place from October 13 to 17, 2025, at the Guamá Science and Technology Park in Belém do Pará, as part of the preparatory activities for COP30, to be held in November..

About the AI Climate Academy

The AI Climate Academy is a global initiative set to launch during COP30. It is designed to build technological capabilities and foster local value creation in developing countries by equipping individuals and institutions with the skills needed to apply artificial intelligence (AI) in climate action. Anchored in principles of equity and sustainability, the Academy’s primary goal is to ensure AI serves as a tool for empowerment – enabling countries in the Global South to design, adapt, and implement their own AI-based climate solutions, and to foster an enabling environment through innovation policies that promote these activities..

With an intensive five-day program, the pilot workshop will combine lectures, case studies, and facilitated discussions. The curriculum is structured to provide a critical understanding of how AI can be applied ethically, effectively, and in context-specific ways to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis.

The lessons learned will form the foundation for the full-scale operation of the AI Climate Academy, aimed at expanding capacities and fostering technological solutions that advance climate equity.
