This edition of Varandas ITS Rio marked the launch of the research project to be developed by ITS Rio and the Berkman Klein Center, with the support from Ford Foundation Brazil and “Instituto Mídia Étnica”.
In the event, the speakers analysed narratives and patterns of racist discourses in Latin-American Internet, focusing on Brazil and Colombia. They showed how, in some countries, these discourses are being substituted by initiatives and solutions led by black youth. Moreover, the speakers discussed some possibilities of mapping the current state of hate speech and racism on social media.
