Rio Mozilla Club is a project carried out by ITS Rio and Mozilla, with the support of Ford Foundation that aims at transforming LAN houses in Rio de Janeiro into multidisciplinary spaces of informal learning and exchange of experiences in digital culture. The goal is to enhance capacities of LAN house users as content producers, not only consumers.
ITS Rio and its partners believe that digital abilities are essential to access knowledge in the 21st century. The more people develop abilities regarding the Internet, the web and content production, the more they will engage in routine, creative and engagement activities in public debates.
How will we do this? We occupy LAN houses outside peak hours with dynamic events. The participants in these clubs learn new digital abilities through an informal methodology based on practical activities, such as workshops, guided by a team of mentors.
