ITS Rio Research Group gathers students and professionals from all over Brazil to analyze issues related to the Institute’s areas of activities during a year. ITS Rio arranges monthly meetings through an interactive platform and, in each meeting, a topic is presented and discussed by the participants.

At the end of the research group cycle, participants must deliver at least one paper in Portuguese or English, under the license of Creative Commons (CC-BY-NC-SA) to be printed and diffused to the Institute’s national and international networks.

In 2017, the research group will debate and develop the topic of Smart Cities. The 16 selected researchers are discussing issues related to privacy, social justice, Internet of Things (IoT), big data, responsive urbanism, open data, governance, among others. The group is coordinated by Sérgio Branco, ITS Rio’s director, and Victor Vicente, ITS Rio’s communication coordinator.
