The project gathered both lay audiences and specialists to discuss the performance and impact of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin in the world. The group had in person meetings at the institute driven by the ongoing discussion on the topic within ITS Rio’s team, which participates in the international debate on the topic.
The main goals of this project were the creation of a community around the use and the study of the issue as well as its social, economic, technological and legal ramifications; the insertion of ITS Rio and some of its partners as supporters and enhancers of cryptocurrencies; the promotion of in person and digital meetings with intellectuals and practitioners in the field and global level players.
In that sense, ITS Rio incremented the global movement for the promotion of Bitcoin, respecting and reinforcing the principles upon which it was created. Such as its decentralized nature. In 2016, the project evolved to include blockchain technologies.
