The first installment of this survey was launched during an online press conference on June 16, 2023.

The survey analyzes the Brazilian population’s understanding and concerns about various app-based jobs. This study is part of the “Conecta Trabalhadores” project, an ITS initiative that seeks to amplify workers’ voices and build strong connections between workers and the public and private sectors in Brazil and Colombia.

The survey was conducted by Inteligência em Pesquisa e Consultoria (IPEC) and involved 2,005 respondents over 18 from the five regions of Brazil between November 24, 2023, and January 18, 2024. Interviews were conducted by telephone using the Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing system (CATI) with the help of an electronic questionnaire.

The questionnaire was developed by ITS in collaboration with IPEC and included closed questions (with predetermined answer options) and one open question (with a spontaneous answer, without options). As part of the questionnaire development, we organized the event “SurveyHack: Platform Work Research Marathon” to discuss the construction and formulation of questions with researchers and experts in the field.

IPEC calculated weighting factors to correct for population quotas. The survey sample is representative of the Brazilian population aged 18 and over. With a 95% confidence level, the margin of error for the total sample stands at two percentage points.
